eXTReMe Tracker

This is my 1997 Kawasaki ZX7R. All of my favorite toys have six
speed transmissions but this one is by far the fastest and
the most exciting to drive. According to the test magazines
when it was new, with the stock exhaust, it would run the quarter
mile in 10.90 seconds @ 127mph (0-120mph in 10 seconds).
I have not had it at a drag strip myself but I know the speedo
indicates 95mph in second gear, and I have had the speedometer
to indicate 178mph in sixth gear.

It has a four cylinder, liquid cooled, 4 stroke 749cc engine
with ram air, double overhead cams, 16 valves, four 38mm
carburetors and a 4 into 1 header. The tachometer redline
is at 12,500 rpms. To handle all this power
it has a pressed aluminum perimeter frame, 43mm inverted
forks with adjustable spring preload, compression and rebound
damping, twin front disc brakes with six piston calipers on each disc.
On the rear it has a gas shock with adjustable spring preload,
compression and rebound damping, and a single disc brake.

cool sunny and calm
the trees stand still until i pass

the screaming results
of  forced induction and gas

as the turn approaches
i drop two gears brake and lean

now is the true test
of man and machine

over the laws of physics
i am almost a hero

the freedom of flying
at altitude zero

i shift up with no clutch
in sixth my tach nears red

no time for regrets
violent turbulence buffets my head

ive run out of gears
i cant look back

ive been overcome
by adrenaline attack

the scenery is a blur
the center marks i cant count

life is surreal
behind the windscreen of my mount
